Daniel Hoover (Dan) was the ninth and last child born to Ralph Pigott and Emeline Stewart.

He married Martha Shackleford Jones 28 March 1917 in Marshallberg, NC

In 1922, he is in the Charleston, SC, area; living at #22 Fourth Street, Chicora Place. He is employed as a Rigger at the Navy Yard. Source: Charleston City Directory for 1922. Books for 1920-21 were not available. Do not know if he moved here during 1920-21.

In 1927, he is living at #17 Second Street.

In 1938, his wife is shown in the City Directory as Florence instead of Martha. Was Florence visiting maybe?

1956 - Dan died of a massive heart attach while outside working around his boat and trailer.

Dan once had a motorcycle with a sidecar attached. He and Martha used to travel back to Gloucester in this contraption.

Dan loved speed, whether automobiles, motorcycles or boats. This trait passed down to his son Dan Jr.

Uncle Dan had a long clay pipe that he loved to smoke. He could just barely reach the bowl to light it.

On a trip to Florida in his later years, he landed a big sailfish which he had mounted and displayed on his living room wall.

Children:

Dan is buried along side his wife, who passed away in 1986, in Riverview Cemetery, Charleston Heights, SC.
